An Update report from UK rider #30 Alan Birtwistle

I’m currently out in the USA racing in the X-treme International Ice Racing series; I’m racing in the Flattrack class as well as the speedway and quad classes. The first round was in St Louis, Missouri where I won the Flattrack final, we then made a 4400 mile round trip to Everett, Washington for round two, it was an amazing drive out there through the mountains and the country side of the good ol USA, it took us four full days driving each way through snow and ice, at some points getting down to -20˚C, Smokin Joe Kopp and a couple of other national number riders showed up so it was a bit tougher and I ended up 4th, I managed a second to Kopp in a heat race. I’ve just been to round three in Danville, Illinois where I finished 2 nd to national number 27 Robbie Pearson. I’m currently leading the points in the Flattrack class with two rounds to go. I’m really enjoying the series and racing in front of the crowds of thousands and all of the travelling that goes with it. >I’ve started the drive south to the sushine of Florida for the Daytona Bike week races, I’ve now got my AMA Pro licence and will be competing in the ‘All Stars’ events at Savanagh, Georgia and Volusia Speedway as well as the Pro Singles class at the Daytona National where I’ve been sponsored with a ride from ‘TNT Action Sports’, it’s going to be tough in the pro singles but I’m going to give it a shot. >Once bike week is over I’ll head back to base in St Louis then make the drive to Springfield, Massachusetts for the final rounds of the ice racing before heading back to the UK to get ready for the start of the DTRA Championship.
